Lesson Schedule

Learning Experience 2: Weeks 3 - 4

Lesson 1: Students will be taught how to store and save digital content safely. They will learn the importance of having backup systems in place to store work.

​

Lessons 2-5: Students will be instructed how to utilise various software programs to edit, draft and create their digital story. They will learn how to incorporate persuasive elements into their digital design including point of view, sound and images.

​

Lessons 6-8: Students will deconstruct the elements of a digital story, analysing what makes an effective one. Students will learn how to create a storyboard that includes the discussed elements and demonstrate their knowledge using an example digital story.

Learning Experience 3: Weeks 5 - 7

Lesson 1-2: Students will review content then select and take a persuasive stance on a topic for their digital story. They will use prior knowledge of storyboarding to plan their assessment piece.

​

Lessons 3-7: Students will use their acquired knowledge of structure, persuasion, target audiences and software abilities to create their own digital story on their selected topic. By the end of these lessons, students will provide a draft to the teacher for editing.

Lessons 8-10: Students will edit their draft digital story, fixing elements where required to publish their final copy on the forum for marking. Students will further evaluate their published digital story through a reflective forum post to be publish alongside their completed digital story.

Learning Experience 1: Weeks 1 - 2

Lessons 1-2: Students will be introduced to and learn about the context of the unit. They will learn what a digital story is and how it can be utilised in a real-world context.

​

Lessons 3-5: Students will learn about blogging, as well as how to post on the class forum/blog to contribute to their assessment. They will also learn how to communicate appropriately online.

​

Lessons 6-8: Students will examine persuasive language through various text types. They will identify how digital elements and language use can position and persuade target audiences.
